Enforcement Drive under JKBOCW Cess Act Conducted in Ramban
RAMBAN: In line with the directives of the Labour Commissioner, Jammu and Kashmir, the Assistant Labour Commissioner, Ramban, led a team of Labour Department officials to inspect various private building projects under the Jammu and Kashmir Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Cess Act.
During the drive, multiple construction sites were inspected, and on-the-spot cess notices were issued to building owners, instructing them to deposit cess at the rate of 1% of the total estimated construction cost. The owners were also sensitized about the provisions of the Act and the significance of cess collection for the welfare of construction workers engaged in their projects.
The building owners were directed to submit the cess amount within 10 days. The enforcement drive aimed to ensure strict compliance with the Act and strengthen welfare measures for construction labourers in the district.
The Labour Department, Ramban, reaffirmed its commitment to upholding labour laws and safeguarding the rights and welfare of workers in the region.
