New Delhi: The large cache of explosives that detonated at the Nowgam police station in Jammu and Kashmir had been transported from Faridabad, Haryana, in a Tata 407 pickup truck, packed in small bags. The blast occurred while experts were examining the unstable material.

According to a senior official, investigators are still working to identify the intended targets of the terror module that had amassed the explosives—some of which were used in the November 10 blast near the Red Fort that claimed 13 lives.

Nine people were killed and 32 injured in Friday night’s accidental explosion at the Nowgam police station in Srinagar. Jammu and Kashmir Police said the detonation happened as a specialised team was extracting samples from the volatile stockpile.

The explosives had been seized during raids in Faridabad on November 9–10 and transported to Kashmir following full protocol, since the case was originally registered at the Nowgam police station and the materials were considered case property, the official added.

Regarding the module’s possible targets, the official said investigators are still searching for concrete evidence, noting that any assumptions at this stage remain speculative.
