FIRs Registered as Poonch Police Crack Down on Bovine Smuggling

Poonch, 11 December 2025: In a focused drive against bovine smuggling, Police Station Poonch foiled three separate smuggling attempts during naka checking conducted on Thursday. The police rescued eight bovines that were being transported illegally and arrested three accused persons involved in the attempts.

Acting on routine checking and heightened vigilance, police teams intercepted three vehicles found transporting bovines without valid permission. Upon verification, the movement of the animals was confirmed to be illegal and in violation of the relevant laws. The swift response of the police teams led to the immediate rescue of the animals and the apprehension of the accused.

In this connection, FIR No. 226/2025, 227/2025 and 228/2025 have been registered at Police Station Poonch under the relevant provisions of law. Further investigation is underway to identify any additional individuals linked to the smuggling network.

District Police Poonch reaffirmed its commitment to curbing bovine smuggling and ensuring strict enforcement against those involved in such illegal activities. The public has been urged to report any suspicious movement or activity to the nearest police unit.
