Islamabad: At least five crew members, including two pilots, were killed on Monday after a helicopter crashed in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir’s Gilgit-Baltistan region, officials said.
According to Gilgit-Baltistan government spokesperson Faizullah Faraq, the aircraft went down in the Thor area of Chilas, Diamer district. The crew on board included two pilots and three technical staff.
Diamer Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Abdul Hameed confirmed that all five crew members lost their lives in the crash. He said the helicopter was attempting a test landing on a proposed helipad when the incident occurred.
The cause of the crash remains unclear. This is the second such incident in recent weeks, following the crash of a Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government helicopter last month.
