Doda/Jammu: A couple and their three children sustained minor injuries after their mud house collapsed in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday, officials said.
The incident occurred at village Dhousa in the Bhalessa area when the house belonging to Shiv Kumar suddenly caved in, trapping him, his wife Mamta, and their children — Neeraj, Dheeraj, and Roovi Kumari — under the debris, officials added.
Alert neighbours immediately rushed to the spot and rescued the family members, who had sustained minor injuries.
Confirming the incident, Bhaderwah Superintendent of Police Vinod Sharma said that a joint team of police and civil officials reached the site to assess the situation.
Preliminary investigation suggests that the collapse was triggered by weakened roof logs, likely damaged due to recent heavy rains, the SP added.
