KABUL: Heavy rains and flash floods in eastern Afghanistan’s Nangarhar province have killed five people and injured eight, the state-run Bakhtar news agency reported on Saturday.
According to Mawlwi Sediqullah Qureshi, provincial director for Information and Culture, flooding in Rodat, Haska Mina, and Chaparhar districts on Friday caused the casualties.
The deluge also destroyed thousands of acres of farmland, damaged sections of roads, and affected several water canals, the agency added.
Earlier, similar flash floods in Logar and Parwan provinces had also resulted in casualties and property damage.
