Lebanon’s Health Ministry confirmed that five people were killed and 28 others wounded in an Israeli airstrike on a residential building in Haret Hreik, a southern suburb of Beirut. The attack targeted Hezbollah’s chief of staff, Ali Tabatabai, according to the Israeli military.
The strike marks Israel’s first attack in Beirut in months, despite a ceasefire agreement reached in November 2024. Lebanese President Joseph Aoun condemned the escalation, calling on the international community to act decisively to stop aggression against Lebanon.
The incident underscores rising tensions in the region, as Israel continues operations against Hezbollah and other groups, while Lebanon faces mounting security and humanitarian challenges.
