Five Rescued After Landslide Strikes Sheds at Ratle Power Project in Kishtwar

Jammu: A landslide struck temporary sheds at the Ratle power project in Kishtwar district, Jammu and Kashmir, on Thursday, prompting swift action by the administration to rescue five people, officials said.

The incident occurred in the Dhrabshala area when the landslide hit tin sheds used as washrooms at the project site. Five individuals trapped inside were rescued, with three admitted to GMC Hospital in Doda for treatment.

Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Pankaj Sharma, who oversaw the operation, told reporters here that all the rescued individuals are safe.

Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh took to X to confirm he had spoken with DC Sharma regarding the incident. “I must appreciate the district administration for their prompt action in rescuing around five people who could have otherwise become victims of the landslide at the Ratle power project in the Dhrabshala area,” he said.

He added that the rescued individuals, though injured, are receiving necessary medical care along with all other required assistance.
