Mark Zuckerberg’s MMA Obsession Revealed in New Memoir

Mark Zuckerberg has long been vocal about his passion for mixed martial arts (MMA), frequently showcasing his training sessions with professional fighters and even competing in Jiu-Jitsu tournaments. But new details suggest his enthusiasm runs far deeper—so much so that it influenced his employees.

In an upcoming memoir, Nick Clegg, Meta’s former head of global affairs, reveals how Zuckerberg’s dedication to MMA extended into the company culture. “Mark’s commitment to MMA is so strong that he once insisted, during a management offsite, that senior executives join him for a training session,” Clegg writes. While Zuckerberg’s rigorous fitness routines have been known for years, Clegg’s account sheds new light on just how central martial arts have become to the Meta co-founder’s lifestyle.

Zuckerberg’s Jiu-Jitsu Era

The Meta CEO has entered multiple Jiu-Jitsu competitions and frequently shares photos alongside well-known MMA fighters. His training sessions even fueled speculation about a potential cage match with Elon Musk—a spectacle Musk once claimed would take place in Rome’s Colosseum.

That highly publicized bout never materialized. By 2023, Zuckerberg had called it off, accusing Musk of not taking the idea seriously. Still, his devotion to MMA hasn’t wavered—though not everyone in his life has been supportive.

At home, Zuckerberg faced pushback from his wife, Priscilla Chan, after installing an MMA octagon in their backyard. In an Instagram post, he shared screenshots of Chan’s reaction, where she lamented: “I’ve been working on that grass for two years.” Her frustration highlighted the personal tensions sparked by Zuckerberg’s unusual hobby.
