SRINAGAR: Former Director General of Jammu and Kashmir Police, Ghulam Jeelani Pandit, who served as the fourth DGP of the state, passed away on Sunday evening, leaving behind a legacy of dedication, integrity, and humility. Born on 22 February 1933, Pandit breathed his last on 21 September 2025.

Remembered for his grace, simplicity, and unwavering commitment to duty, Pandit earned admiration and respect across all ranks during his distinguished police career. Colleagues and well-wishers hailed him as a true gentleman whose service set a high standard for the force.

The current Director General of Police, Jammu and Kashmir, along with the entire police force, expressed profound sorrow over his demise. Officers collectively offered heartfelt condolences and prayers for strength to his bereaved family.

In their tributes, police personnel described Pandit as a leader whose honesty and humility left a lasting impact, inspiring generations of officers to follow in his footsteps.
