JAMMU: The Gau Raksha Andolan, an organisation dedicated to the protection of cows, on Thursday urged the government to declare the cow as the “National Mother” and announced plans to gherao the Civil Secretariat in Jammu on November 3 to press their demand.
The group has been spearheading several movements across India in support of cow protection, highlighting the animal’s sacred status in Hinduism.
“We are demanding that the government declare the cow as the national mother. The entire nation, especially Hindus, reveres her as Gau Mata,” said Yog Guru Vijay Krishan Parashar while addressing reporters in Jammu.
He added that a nationwide campaign has been launched to urge the government to officially recognise the cow with this status.
Parashar further announced that a protest march will be organised on November 3, beginning from Indira Chowk and proceeding towards the Civil Secretariat.
“We will gherao the Secretariat to reinforce our demand,” he stated.
Extending greetings on the occasion of Gopashtami, Parashar underscored the day’s spiritual importance and appealed to people from all walks of life and political affiliations to join the November 3 march.
The organisation has also called for unity across communities in support of what it described as a sacred cause.
