GCOE Conducts Campus Road Safety Signage Installation Drive

JAMMU: Government College of Education (GCOE) today organized an awareness programme to promote safe and responsible road behaviour among students, faculty, and staff.

The event included a campus road safety signage installation drive, along with a traffic signs and rules awareness session, conducted by the college’s ‘Road Safety Club’ under the patronage of Principal Dr. Jyoti Parihar.
In her address, Dr. Parihar appreciated the proactive efforts of the Road Safety Club toward creating a safer campus environment and urged students to act as responsible citizens and ambassadors of road safety.

The programme aimed to sensitize the campus community about the importance of following traffic regulations and understanding road signs to ensure accident-free mobility within and outside the campus. As part of the drive, new traffic and safety signages were installed at key locations to facilitate smooth movement and enhance road safety awareness.

During the session, B.Ed 3rd Semester students Simranjeet Kaur, Peehu, and Sana Padha delivered a PowerPoint presentation explaining various traffic signs, making the programme informative and engaging. They elaborated on the meaning and significance of different traffic symbols and rules essential for safe road usage.

The event was coordinated by Prof. Roopa Kumari, Convenor of the Road Safety Club, who briefed participants on key traffic rules, safety measures, and the importance of maintaining road discipline. Faculty members, non-teaching staff, and a large number of students attended the programme. Members of the Road Safety Club, including Dr. Shalini Sharma, Dr. Suraj Prakash, Dr. Ambica Kumari, Dr. Shallu Jasrotia, Prof. Kiran Thapa, and Ramandeep Kralia, were also present.
