JAMMU: The NSS Unit of Government College of Education (GCOE), under the guidance of NSS Programme Officer Professor Sarita Dogra, successfully organized a Plantation Drive on the college campus. The initiative aimed to promote environmental awareness and encourage sustainable practices among students.
Principal GCOE, Dr. Jyoti Parihar graced the occasion and highlighted the importance of afforestation in mitigating climate change and preserving biodiversity. She commended the NSS Unit for taking this significant step towards a greener future.
The event witnessed the enthusiastic participation of 100 students, who actively planted saplings in various locations within the college premises. Faculty members, including Prof. Satish Sharma, Dr. Rajinder Kour, Prof. Deepali Devi, Prof. Kiran Thapa, Dr. Ambica Kumari, and Roopa Kumari, were also present and contributed to the success of the drive.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Roopa emphasized the role of students in environmental conservation and encouraged them to take up similar initiatives in their communities. She expressed gratitude to all participants and faculty members for their support and dedication to making the event a success.
The Plantation Drive concluded with a pledge by students and faculty members to continue efforts towards environmental protection and sustainability. The event not only enhanced the green cover of the college but also instilled a sense of responsibility among students towards nature.
