JAMMU: A one-day National Seminar on the theme “Vision of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel towards Viksit Bharat@2047” was held at Sachdev Government College for Women (PSPS GCW), Gandhi Nagar. Organized to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel, the event was hosted by the Range Police Headquarters, Jammu, in collaboration with the college management and the Dean of Student Welfare, Cluster University of Jammu (CLUJ).
The seminar focused on the enduring relevance of Sardar Patel’s principles—unity, good governance, and self-reliance—as essential pillars for achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat@2047.
The program commenced with a floral welcome for the chief guests, Prof. K.S. Chandrasekhar, Vice-Chancellor, CLUJ, and Shiv Kumar Sharma (IPS), DIG JKS Range, followed by a welcome to Prof. Twinkle Suri, Dean Academic Affairs. The inaugural session began with the traditional lamp lighting ceremony, and Dr. Geetanjali Andotra, Principal of the college, delivered the formal welcome address.
Resource persons, including Dr. Varun Sharma (GCW Udhampur), Dr. Harmeet Singh (GDC Katra), and Dr. Piyush Kant Sharma (GDC Ramnagar), shared their insights on Sardar Patel’s vision and his contribution to nation-building. Addressing the gathering, DIG JKS Range Shiv Kumar Sharma highlighted Patel’s pivotal role in uniting India post-independence through his clear vision, selfless approach, and devotion to the country.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) K.S. Chandrasekhar spoke on the unification process of India and the creation of “Akhand Bharat,” appreciating Dr. Geetanjali Andotra and the Jammu and Kashmir Police for organizing the event. Mementoes were presented to dignitaries and organizing committee members.
The technical session featured presentations by students from all constituent colleges and schools of Cluster University, emphasizing Sardar Patel’s role in India’s unification. Mementoes were also presented to student speakers and coordinators, including Lavanya Jamwal, Vice President of the Presidium, and SUO Diksha of 9 J&K Battalion. The program was coordinated by Prof. D.S. Manhas (DSW, CLUJ), Dr. Rabia Javed (Dean, Student Welfare), Prof. Shivani Sharma (Convenor), and committee members in collaboration with Sanjay Kumar Sharma, SSP Staff Officer to DIG JKS Range, under the Civics Action Program.
The vote of thanks was delivered by Prof. Shivani Sharma, while proceedings were managed by Mahi Gupta. The seminar was attended by deans, directors, principals of constituent colleges, a large number of students, members of the Presidium, NCC cadets, and police officials, including SP South Jammu Ajay Sharma, SDPO South Sunil Jasrotia, DySPs Neelam Sharma and Anuradha Sharma, along with several inspectors and staff of Cluster University and RPHQ Jammu, ensuring the smooth conduct of the event.
