GCW Parade organises Financial Literacy Quiz in collaboration with Zerodha Varsity

JAMMU: The Department of English, Government College for Women (GCW) Parade Ground, Jammu, in collaboration with Zerodha Varsity, organised a Financial Literacy Quiz to promote awareness about personal finance, investment, and responsible money management among students.

The quiz covered a wide range of topics including finance, wealth creation, and entrepreneurship, primarily based on content from the Zerodha Varsity platform and YouTube channels.

Held in the college auditorium, the event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students across various departments, with over 43 teams competing in the preliminary round. Six teams advanced to the final round, conducted by Quizmaster Ahil, assisted by Ashish. The quiz tested participants’ knowledge of core financial concepts and real-world applications.

The winning team — Ojaswi Rajput, Samiyaa Sharma, and Vanshika Devi — bagged a cash prize of ₹12,000. The first runner-up team comprising Sonakshi Sharma, Ufra Tanveer, and Vartika Sharma won ₹9,000, while the second runner-up team — Khushi Puri, Simran Chib, and Rumaisa Ahmed — received ₹3,000.

The competition featured multiple rounds, including both written and interactive segments. The preliminary round was evaluated by the college faculty, while representatives from Zerodha Varsity judged the final round. A dedicated team of faculty members and student volunteers efficiently managed registration, technical support, and logistics, ensuring smooth conduct of the event.

The event was anchored by Minalika Rajput and Riya Jamwal from GCW Parade, with Vishnu Priya, Shreya, and Nilakshi from MCMP handling photo and video documentation.

Student organisers from the Department of English — Janvi, Monika, Palak, Raghvi, Muskan, Archita, Purvi, Stanzen, Mehak, Muskan, Tania, Pallavi, and Kajal — played a key role in the event’s success.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Ritu Magotra, Head of the Department of English, lauded the efforts of the organising team and emphasised the importance of financial literacy as a crucial life skill for students.

Dr. Ravender Tickoo, Principal of GCW Parade, commended the initiative, stating that the quiz reflected the college’s commitment to holistic learning by integrating practical financial awareness with academic development.
