DODA: Government Degree College, Kastigarh, under the guidance of Principal Prof. Koshal Kumar Mangotra, organized an awareness lecture on Nasha Mukht Abhiyan.
The programme aimed to sensitize students about the harmful effects of drugs and intoxicants on health, academics, and overall quality of life. It formed part of the ongoing efforts to build a drug-free society and nurture responsible youth who can contribute positively to the nation.
Delivering the keynote address, Dr. Anupam Lata, Assistant Professor of Psychology, highlighted the destructive impact of substance abuse on individuals, families, and society. She noted how alcohol, tobacco, and narcotics are becoming alarmingly common among students and young adults. Dr. Lata emphasized the importance of not only saying “No to Drugs” but also educating peers and supporting those battling addiction. She also discussed psychological strategies for overcoming substance abuse and stressed the need for strong community-based support systems.
As part of the event, a poster-making competition was held where students expressed their creativity through impactful messages. Themes such as “Say No to Drugs,” “Healthy Youth, Strong Nation,” and “Life is Beautiful without Drugs” reflected their determination to stand against addiction. The winners—Bhabita Devi (1st), Sonika Devi (2nd), and Sandeep Singh (3rd)—were appreciated for their powerful contributions.
The programme saw enthusiastic participation, with students actively engaging in discussions and sharing their perspectives on the issue.
