GDC Marh holds awareness session on tobacco control and child helpline services

JAMMU: Government Degree College (GDC) Marh on Friday organised an impactful awareness lecture on tobacco control and the significance of Child Helpline 1098 as part of the “No Tobacco Campaign 3.0.”

The programme was conducted by the college’s Prahari Club in collaboration with the Child Protection Unit, Jammu district. Principal Prof. Ramneek Kour presided over the event.

Protection Officer Sheraz Inayat Malik and Child Helpline Coordinator Pinki Jain served as the resource persons.
Malik highlighted the growing health concerns linked to tobacco use, particularly among the youth, and stressed the legal provisions under COTPA.

Jain informed students about the services offered through Child Helpline 1098 and urged them to spread awareness in their communities to help vulnerable children receive timely support.

The event concluded with an interactive session during which students and faculty posed questions and shared their views. Faculty members present included Prof. Rahul Sharma, Dr. Balwinder Saini, Prof. Sachin Kumar and Ravi Kumar.

The programme was coordinated by Prof. Malti Rajput, convener of the Prahari Club, and the vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Sheetal Devi.
