JAMMU: Government Degree College Marh on Friday arranged a perceptive visit for its students to the Kisan Mela at the Sher-e- Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST), Jammu. The objective of the event was to expose students to the emerging advancements in agriculture and stimulate innovation in the sector.
The tour, comprising 39 students of semester 1st, 3rd and 5th attended the event, was coordinated by Institution’s Innovation Cell (IIC) in Collaboration with the Department of Chemistry.
Students accomplished a comprehensive panorama of counters exhibiting advanced scientific tools, technologies, inventive agricultural practices, hydroponics, sericulture, horticulture, veterinary sciences etc.
The KisanMela provided experiential learning and illustrations to students on sustainable farming, modern agriculture techniques, Agri Startups, Farm Mechanization, Digital Agriculture, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in Agriculture, Livestock management, Veterinary Sciences, Microbiology, Apiculture, use of drones in agriculture Industry- Academia Linkages.
The students also interacted with agricultural experts, researchers, industrialists which not only gave a wide vision and also enhanced their curiosity in the potential career opportunities in the agricultural field.
Principal of the college Prof. (Dr) Rakesh Kumar Koul appreciated the efforts of the IIC team and aims to continue organizing such enriching visits to foster inspiration and speculator spirit among the students.
IIC convener Dr. Balwinder Saini along with Prof Sachin Kumar Bhagat (NSS PO), Dr. BrijBir (HOD Physics) and Dr. Ruchika Bavouria accompanied the students.
The students gave an overwhelming response about the event and expressed their newfound interest in aspiring careers in agriculture.
