GDC Ramkote commemorates 150th Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel with Unity March and Documentary Screening

KATHUA: To mark the 150th Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and celebrate Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, the NSS Unit of Government Degree College (GDC) Ramkote, in collaboration with the College Cultural Committee, organised a Unity March/Pad Yatra today.

The event, held under the overall guidance of Dr. Rakesh Kumar Koul, Principal of the College, was part of the nationwide campaign Sardar@150, aimed at engaging youth in nation-building and advancing the vision of Viksit Bharat@2047.

Students from BA Semesters I, III, and V participated in the march, raising slogans of national unity and pride. They pledged to uphold the ideals of “The Iron Man of India” and promote collective responsibility and national cohesion.

Following the Unity March, a documentary titled “Sardar Patel: The Iron Man of India” was screened for staff and students. The film highlighted Sardar Patel’s monumental role in unifying over 560 princely states post-independence and his pivotal contribution in establishing the modern All India Services, thereby strengthening the administrative framework of the nation.

Nearly 60 NSS volunteers enthusiastically took part in the event. The programme was coordinated by Prof. Pankaj Nandan (IQAC Convenor), Prof. Suresh Chander (Convenor, Cultural Committee), and Prof. Anu Sharma (NSS Programme Officer).

The faculty members present included Prof. Vasundra Raje, Sheraj Ahmed Sofi, Sheraj Ahmed Hajam, Sheikh Aabid Azad, Mr. Sushil Singh, Krishan Singh, and Ankush Kundral.
