SAMBA,: Government Degree College in collaboration with the District Police Samba organized an Interactive Workshop on the theme ‘Drugs and its impact on Society’ under the flagship banner of Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan. The event was conducted under the supervision of Dr. Ashu Vashist, the College Principal.
The event commenced with the welcome address by Dr. Anoop Kumar Bhagat, Nodal Officer Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan. He introduced the resource person of the event Additional Superintendent of Police Garu Ram.
Garu Ram shared that drug abuse is not just a personal problem but a social problem that impacts families, disrupts communities and burdens our healthcare and criminal justice systems. He not only stressed on the dangers of substance abuse but also recognized the importance of prevention, early intervention, and community support.
The college students were encouraged to express their views on the detrimental impact of drug abuse on individuals, families and civil society, also suggesting effective strategies for prevention and control. The workshop provided a platform to young minds to critically reflect on social-psychological and health related consequences of drug addiction.
The programme was co-cordinated by Prof. Mamta Gupta, Prof. Ritu Bhagat, Dr. Arti Sharma, Dr. Manoj Heer, Dr. Naseem Chowdhary, Prof. Mitu Sharma, Dr. Gunjeet Mahiwal, and, Dr. Anjana Raina.
