Rajouri: Wildlife Officials, Police Capture Giant Python Weighing 55 kg

Jammu: Wildlife department and police teams on Tuesday captured a massive python weighing nearly 55 kilograms in Rajouri district, Jammu and Kashmir, officials said.

Acting on tips from local residents, the teams rushed to Manpur village in Nowshera tehsil and launched an operation to seize the giant snake in the forested area, said wildlife official Rajesh Kumar.

Measuring four-and-a-half metres, the python was safely captured after an hours-long effort. Kumar added that the reptile had previously killed and swallowed a jackal but later regurgitated it.

Officials confirmed that the python will be released back into the forest.
