RAJOURI, Dec 4: The Government Medical College (GMC) Rajouri administration has issued a clarification regarding news items circulated on social media alleging that a nursing student from Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU) was tortured by a teacher and subsequently hospitalized. The administration categorically refuted these claims, terming them baseless and misleading.

Officials from GMC Rajouri stated that the student was admitted for medical reasons unrelated to any alleged incident of torture. They emphasised that no such complaint has been received either from the student, her family, or the university authorities. The clarification stressed that the reports circulating on social media were fabricated and aimed at creating unnecessary panic and confusion.

The GMC Rajouri administration further highlighted that the institution maintains strict protocols to ensure the safety and well-being of all students. It reiterated that disciplinary and academic processes are conducted transparently, and any grievances are addressed through established mechanisms. The administration condemned the spread of misinformation and urged the public to rely on verified sources for accurate updates.

University officials also expressed concern over the circulation of false news, noting that such reports damage the reputation of educational institutions and undermine trust between students and faculty. They assured that the student in question is receiving appropriate medical care and that her condition is stable.

The clarification by GMC Rajouri underscores the importance of responsible reporting and cautions against the misuse of social media platforms for spreading unverified information. Authorities have appealed to the public and media outlets to avoid sensationalism and to respect the dignity of students and teachers alike.
