New Delhi [India]: Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla, speaking at the main event of National Space Day on Saturday, described the present era as a “golden period” for India’s space exploration journey.
Highlighting the global interest in India’s space programme, Shukla said that the excitement is not confined to the country alone. “This excitement for India is present all over the world. The Japanese and the European Space Agencies are even more enthusiastic about our missions. This is truly a golden period for our nation in space exploration,” he noted.
Looking ahead, Shukla underlined India’s ambitious goals, including the Gaganyaan Mission and the Bharatiya Antriksh Station, alongside plans for a future lunar landing. He stressed that achieving these milestones would require the collective support and resources of the entire nation.
“We have big ambitions—the Gaganyaan Mission, the Bharatiya Antriksh Station, and eventually landing on the Moon. To realise these dreams, we need the energy and curiosity of today’s youth. This excitement I see here must spread across the country,” he urged.
Reflecting on the growing enthusiasm for India’s space programme, Shukla said, “Just two years ago, we didn’t have such celebrations. Within a year, this is the level of excitement we have managed to generate.”
During the event, Shukla also inaugurated the Aryabhatta Gallery at the Nehru Planetarium. Addressing reporters, he added, “Be curious, be excited. This is a golden time for our country. We have very ambitious dreams, and it will take all of us to turn them into reality.”
