Nano Banana has become a major hit, and now its AI-powered editing tools are rolling out to the Google Photos app in select countries. Users will also finally get access to the Ask Photos feature. With these additions, Google Photos now offers expanded creative editing options, allowing users to enhance, modify, and stylize images using Nano Banana’s prompt-based AI.
The update introduces six new AI tools aimed at making photo editing more fun, intuitive, and capable. While the broader rollout is part of the November 2025 Pixel Drop, the Google Photos update is coming to both iOS and Android, starting with users in the US and India.
What’s New in Google Photos AI Update
Powered by Nano Banana, the new tools can remove sunglasses, add smiles, and apply fresh styles to photos automatically. Nano Banana has been widely praised since launch, and reports now suggest that Nano Banana 2 may arrive soon.
Ask Photos, previously paused due to early issues, is also returning. It functions as an AI-driven search tool, allowing users to find images using specific keywords through text or voice prompts.
Google’s broader shift toward integrating AI into Photos was expected with the rise of its Gemini model, and these new features mark another step in that direction. Prompt-based editing is poised to attract millions, and Google’s rapid expansion of Nano Banana underscores how seriously the company is competing in the AI race.
While concerns about altering the context of images persist, AI-powered editing is evolving quickly—and, so far, delivering promising results.
