Pixel Phones Receive Critical September 2025 Security Update
Google has released a crucial September 2025 update for Pixel phones. While it doesn’t bring a host of new features, it addresses important security issues that users shouldn’t ignore. The focus is on Pixel 6 and newer models, which are receiving the Android security patch fixing around 84 vulnerabilities—two of which have already been actively exploited, highlighting the importance of installing the update promptly.
These vulnerabilities are embedded deep within the Android Linux kernel, making them largely invisible to regular users.
What the September 2025 Security Patch Offers
The update delivers the latest September 2025 security patch for both older Pixel models and the new Pixel 10 series. It is available over-the-air and can be installed easily through the device’s settings:
- Go to Settings
- Scroll down to System
- Tap Check for updates
- Install the update
- Reboot your phone
Once installed, your Pixel device will be protected against the latest security threats.
Google has published a detailed bulletin outlining the security fixes, which impact Android versions 13 through 16. Other Android brands—including OnePlus, Xiaomi, and Samsung—are expected to roll out their own updates in the coming days to address these vulnerabilities.
Additional Updates for Pixel Users
Alongside the critical security fixes, Pixel 6, 7, and 9 series users will also start seeing the new Material 3 Expressive UI changes. Previously available on the Pixel 10 series, this refreshed design and layout brings a more vibrant and modern look. Other Android brands are likely to adopt similar UI upgrades in their upcoming Android 16 updates.
