RAJOURI: In celebration of the 79th Independence Day, Government Degree College (GDC) Rajouri organized an intra-college seminar, offering students across semesters a platform to share their perspectives on India’s independence and national progress.
The event commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Zakir Kalis, Convener of the Cultural and Literary Committee. Prof. Khaleeq Ahmed moderated the seminar, ensuring a lively and thought-provoking session.
Principal Prof. Zamir Ahmed Mirza addressed the gathering, paying tribute to the sacrifices of freedom fighters and emphasizing the need to uphold democratic values. Students actively participated, articulating their views with enthusiasm and insight.
The jury—comprising Prof. Ayaz Chowdhary, Dr. Ahsan Rizvi, and Prof. Antima Gupta—evaluated the presentations. Ms. Vanshika (Semester III) clinched the first position, while Ms. Haseeba and Mr. Inzar (both from Semester V) secured second and third places respectively.
Prof. Sabia concluded the event with a vote of thanks. Among the distinguished attendees were Prof. Shoket Hussain, Dr. Mohd Latief Mir, Dr. Flourance Chaand, Prof. Ram Kishore Bharti, Prof. Anies Chowdhary, and Dr. Shazia Kouser.
The seminar inspired patriotic fervor and reaffirmed the college’s dedication to fostering intellectually vibrant and socially responsible students.
