Srinagar: The Ministry of Finance has prohibited all government ministries, departments, and affiliated bodies from using public funds to purchase gifts for Diwali or other festivals.
The move aims to strengthen financial discipline. According to an official circular issued by the Department of Expenditure, the decision seeks to ensure prudent use of public resources and curb non-essential spending.
The directive is effective immediately.
