Over 3.61 Lakh Educated Youth Registered as Unemployed in J&K: Government
Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir government on Monday informed the Assembly that as of September 2025, a total of 3,61,146 educated unemployed youth are registered across the Union Territory.
According to official data, the Kashmir Division accounts for over 2.08 lakh registrations, while the Jammu Division has more than 1.52 lakh. Among districts, Anantnag (32,298) has the highest number of unemployed youth, followed by Pulwama (28,671), Kathua (26,798), Srinagar (23,826), and Kulgam (21,446). The lowest figures were reported from Kishtwar (8,870) and Reasi (12,376).
Of the total, 2,33,845 are male and 1,27,301 are female.
The government said that under Mission Youth and Mission YUVA, the Employment Department aims to create 4.25 lakh job opportunities by establishing 1.37 lakh entrepreneurship units, focusing on self-employment, startups, and skill development.
In addition, district-level Employment and Counselling Centres are organizing Career Melas and Rozgar Melas to engage youth, foster innovation, and spread awareness about livelihood avenues.
“Our goal is to channelize the potential of educated youth into productive sectors, ensuring meaningful employment and encouraging entrepreneurship across Jammu and Kashmir,” the government stated.
