Srinagar: Grand Mufti of Jammu and Kashmir, Nasir-ul-Islam, on Friday voiced deep disappointment over what he described as the government’s failure to align the official holiday for Eid-e-Milad with the actual moon sighting.
In a statement issued by the Office of the Grand Mufti, he said, “It is highly unfortunate that although Eid-e-Milad falls on Saturday as per the moon sighting, the government did not update its notification accordingly. Such a mismatch reflects a careless approach towards a day of profound spiritual and religious importance.”
He urged the authorities to prevent such lapses in the future, emphasizing that the sanctity of religious occasions must be honored and upheld.
