GTA 6 Release Date Delayed Again: Rockstar Explains the Reason Behind the Move
Rockstar Games has once again delayed the much-anticipated release of Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6), citing the need for additional development time to refine the game. The company confirmed the news in an apologetic post this week, disappointing millions of fans eagerly waiting for its launch.
Originally expected to arrive by the end of 2025, GTA 6 will now release in November 2026, pushed back from its earlier target of May 2026. Rockstar said the delay will ensure the game delivers the “level of polish players have come to expect and deserve.”
“We are sorry for adding additional time to what we realize has been a long wait,” the developer said. “These extra months will allow us to finish the game with the quality our players deserve. We want to thank you again for your patience and support.”
Rockstar also expressed excitement about letting players explore Leonida, the expansive new state featuring modern-day Vice City, when the game finally launches.
GTA 6: What to Expect
GTA 6 promises to be one of the most ambitious open-world titles ever created, featuring two protagonists, a massive map, and cutting-edge visuals. Trailers released earlier this year have already showcased the game’s stunning graphics, intense action sequences, and realistic gameplay mechanics.
Price and Availability
Following the new schedule, the India release of GTA 6 is expected to align with its global launch. Due to high development costs, the game is expected to be priced higher than previous editions — with the standard edition likely to cost around ₹5,999 ($70) and special editions potentially reaching ₹7,299 ($100). These premium versions may include exclusive in-game items and collectibles, though official confirmation is still pending.
Retailers in both India and the U.S. are reportedly preparing for overwhelming demand once pre-orders open. At launch, GTA 6 will be available for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, while a PC version is expected to arrive later.
