Gulmarg recorded the highest night temperature in Kashmir as the mercury settled at 2.0°C, offering some relief amid the prevailing cold conditions. In contrast, Srinagar experienced a much colder night, with temperatures dipping to –1.8°C, making it one of the season’s coldest nights so far.
Other parts of the Valley also witnessed sub-zero temperatures, contributing to the intensifying winter chill. Weather officials said the colder nights are expected to continue over the next few days due to clear skies, which allow heat to escape during the night.
Authorities have advised residents to take necessary precautions, especially during early morning hours when fog and frost may affect visibility and road conditions. The forecast indicates that the cold wave is likely to persist across Kashmir, with no significant change expected in the immediate future.
