Chairman of the Jammu and Kashmir People’s Democratic Front (JKPDF), Hakeem Yaseen, on Monday said that the admission process at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) is fully fair and transparent, urging all stakeholders to refrain from giving a communal colour to campus-related issues.

Yaseen said that attempts to create unnecessary controversy around a well-established institution were unfortunate and could harm its academic atmosphere. He stressed that SMVDU has consistently upheld merit-based admission procedures and maintained a neutral, inclusive environment for students from diverse backgrounds.

He appealed to political and social groups to avoid spreading misinformation or fostering divisions, stating that such actions do a disservice to the state’s educational institutions and the youth who depend on them.

Yaseen further called for safeguarding the peaceful academic environment at SMVDU and ensuring that students are not subjected to any form of communal or political polarisation.
