Handwara, Nov 27: Police in Handwara conducted raids at the Jamia Islamia Institute in Waripora as part of an ongoing crackdown on activities linked to the banned Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI). Officials confirmed that electronic devices and documents were seized during the operation.
Authorities stated that the raid was carried out following intelligence inputs suggesting the institute’s involvement in activities associated with the proscribed organisation. Investigators are examining the seized materials for evidence of financial and organisational links.
Security officials emphasized that the action was aimed at preventing any attempts to revive or reorganize JeI networks under different names. They added that strict enforcement against banned groups remains a priority to safeguard peace and stability in Jammu and Kashmir.
Police reiterated that such measures are precautionary and investigative in nature, forming part of a broader crackdown across the Valley. Follow-up inquiries and further actions are expected in the coming days.
The government has maintained that decisive steps against proscribed outfits are essential to uphold law and order, with law enforcement agencies committed to pursuing cases under due process.
