Dubai: Pakistan fast bowler Haris Rauf has been fined 30 percent of his match fee for inappropriate and aggressive conduct during the Asia Cup Super 4s match against India last Sunday.
His teammate, Sahibzada Farhan, however, received only a warning and no financial penalty for his open-air gunshot-style celebration after reaching his half-century in the same match.
“Match referee Richie Richardson concluded his hearing on Friday afternoon at the team hotel. Haris Rauf has been fined 30 percent of his match fee for aggressive behavior, while Farhan has been let off with a warning,” sources said on condition of anonymity.
Both players had earlier pleaded not guilty during their ICC hearing regarding their allegedly provocative actions in the match. The hearing was conducted in person at the Pakistan team hotel, with responses submitted in writing. They were accompanied by team manager Naveed Akram Cheema.
The complaints, lodged by the BCCI on Wednesday, accused the two players of making provocative gestures. Rauf allegedly mocked Indian fans with gestures referencing falling planes, while Farhan’s celebratory actions after his half-century were also deemed offensive. India and Pakistan are set to face off again in the Asia Cup final on Sunday.
