New Delhi, Nov 29: A Delhi court on Saturday deferred its decision on taking cognisance of the Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) chargesheet in the National Herald case, with Special Judge Vishal Gogne rescheduling the order to December 16.

The chargesheet by the ED names Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, along with late party leaders Motilal Vora and Oscar Fernandes, as well as Suman Dubey, Sam Pitroda, and the private company Young Indian, alleging conspiracy and money laundering. According to the agency, the accused collectively acquired properties valued at approximately Rs 2,000 crore belonging to Associated Journals Limited (AJL), the publisher of the National Herald newspaper.

The ED further alleged that Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi held 76 per cent of the shares in Young Indian, which “fraudulently” took over AJL’s assets in exchange for a Rs 90 crore loan. The chargesheet also lists Pitroda, Dubey, Sunil Bhandari, Young Indian, and Dotex Merchandise Pvt Ltd as accused, highlighting the alleged misuse of corporate and financial structures to execute the transactions.
