Rajouri: Helicopter services have finally resumed in Rajouri district, bringing much-needed relief to residents of this hilly border region and offering crucial support during medical and other emergencies.

The service, launched at the helipad located at the Sports Stadium in Kheora, marks a major step toward improving connectivity for people living in remote and mountainous areas.

Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma, presided over the inauguration and inspected the facilities and arrangements at the site.

Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner said the revival of helicopter services would greatly benefit the public, especially in medical emergencies, accidents, and other situations requiring swift transportation.

“Timely air connectivity can save lives, reduce hardship, and strengthen the district’s disaster response,” he emphasised.

He added that the initiative would significantly improve access to healthcare, administrative services, and essential supplies for residents of Rajouri’s far-flung and border areas. “This service is more than just a mode of transport—it is a lifeline for our people during critical times,” Sharma said.

To ensure efficient management and smooth coordination of the operations, Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Rajouri, Malikzada Sheraz-ul-Haq, has been appointed as the Nodal Officer. His role will help streamline inter-departmental communication and ensure timely handling of emergency and priority cases.

Several prominent citizens, including retired doctor Vijay Gupta, Sushil Jamwal, Subsin Gupta, Subah Chandar, and Karan Diwan, attended the inauguration and welcomed the administration’s efforts to restore the crucial service after a long gap.

The restart of helicopter services is expected to strengthen emergency medical evacuation, boost tourism, and spur economic activity—offering renewed hope and improved connectivity to the people of Rajouri.
