Mumbai: Bollywood icon and Member of Parliament Hema Malini has called on citizens to actively join the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign this Independence Day 2025.
In a video message shared on her X handle, she highlighted the significance of the day and paid tribute to India’s freedom fighters.
“Aap sabhi ko Swatantrata Diwas ki hardik shubhkamnayein. This day is a reminder to reaffirm our commitment towards the nation and to honour the great souls who sacrificed their lives for India’s freedom,” she said.
The Har Ghar Tiranga initiative, part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, enters its fourth year and has grown into a mass movement. Urging participation, Hema Malini added:
“On this occasion, let us all celebrate nationalism by joining the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign and renew our resolve to take India to the forefront globally. Vande Mataram.”
According to the Ministry of Culture, over five lakh youth volunteers have registered this year to encourage households across the country to proudly hoist the tricolour between August 13 and 15.
Earlier this week, Union Minister for Culture and Tourism Gajendra Singh Shekhawat described the campaign as “more than a campaign — an emotional movement uniting 1.4 billion Indians under the timeless colours of our National Flag.” He said its goal is to “instil patriotism, foster civic pride, and deepen awareness of the Tiranga as a living symbol of democracy and independence.”
