Jammu: Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh on Monday announced that a five-member high-level team from the Ministry of Civil Aviation and the Airports Authority of India will visit Kishtwar for two days starting Tuesday to assess the status of the proposed airport project in the district.

The minister reiterated that Kishtwar will soon have a full-fledged airport with facilities for aircraft landing and take-off. The upgraded airstrip is planned to be constructed adjacent to the Chaugan ground in the town.

Dr. Singh said the team will submit its report to senior authorities upon returning to Delhi, after which a detailed roadmap for the project will be finalised.

Highlighting the Centre’s focus on regional development, he said, “Thanks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s special priority for far-flung areas, every proposal and initiative for the upliftment of remote regions has received a positive response.”

He added that the development of the airport will ensure year-round air connectivity for Kishtwar, significantly improving accessibility and economic prospects for the region.
