BUDGAM: With the 27–Assembly Constituency Budgam set to go for Bye-Elections on November 11, the Home Voting process began today across the constituency.

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has introduced home voting to promote inclusive electoral participation, allowing eligible senior citizens and Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) to vote from their homes. This facility is extended to voters aged 85 years and above, and PwD electors with 40% or more benchmark disability.

As part of the exercise, special polling teams—comprising Presiding Officers, polling staff, and security personnel—visited the homes of eligible voters to facilitate the process in accordance with ECI guidelines.

The initiative was widely appreciated by the beneficiaries, who expressed gratitude to the Election Commission of India and the District Election Officer for providing such a convenient and citizen-friendly service. Many voters said they were delighted to be able to cast their votes from home, describing the initiative as empowering and inclusive.

The Home Voting drive represents a major step toward ensuring accessibility, dignity, and inclusion in the electoral process—reaffirming the ECI’s commitment to the principle of “No Voter to be Left Behind.”
