A House Committee on Tuesday visited various areas of Kupwara district to inspect the ongoing and completed water supply schemes and assess their functioning on the ground.
During the visit, committee members reviewed the status of infrastructure, availability of drinking water and the quality of services being provided to the public. They interacted with officials from the Public Health Engineering department and sought details about project timelines, coverage and maintenance.
The committee also listened to issues raised by local residents regarding water shortages and supply-related problems, and directed the concerned authorities to take immediate steps to address genuine grievances.
Members of the House Committee stressed the need for ensuring uninterrupted and safe drinking water, especially in far-flung and border areas of the district. They said the inspection was aimed at improving service delivery and ensuring accountability.
Officials assured the committee that necessary measures are being taken to strengthen the water supply system and that pending works would be expedited to meet public demand.
