Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India]: Bollywood celebrities including Hrithik Roshan, Fardeen Khan, Sanjay Khan, and several others from the film industry gathered to pay their respects to veteran actress Zarine Khan at her prayer meet on Monday.
Sussanne Khan, Zarine’s daughter, shared a heartfelt video from the ceremony, which saw the presence of many prominent personalities such as Jeetendra, Hrithik Roshan with his sons, Saif Ali Khan, and Fardeen Khan.
Zarine Khan, wife of actor-director Sanjay Khan, passed away on November 7 at the age of 81.
Remembering his late wife, Sanjay Khan fondly recalled the moment he proposed to her.
“I met her when I was 18, she was 14. I looked into her eyes and felt I was seeing God. I asked, ‘Will you marry me?’ She smiled and replied, ‘If I feel the same about you after a year, I will say yes.’ That day, I knew she wasn’t just beautiful but also intelligent—someone who would make a wonderful wife,” he shared.
Their son, actor Zayed Khan, paid an emotional tribute, saying, “My mother was my God. I will miss her deeply.”
Hrithik Roshan, Zarine’s former son-in-law, also expressed his affection, saying, “It has been my privilege to love and be loved by you.”
Fardeen Khan, her nephew, remembered her as someone whose “memory, spirit, and essence will live on through us.”
Sussanne Khan wrote a moving note on Instagram, reflecting on her mother’s warmth and generosity:
“To the world, she was Zarine Sanjay Khan, but to me and my siblings, simply our mother. I thought she was my world until I saw how many lives she touched — people from all walks of life came to pay respects to a woman who made everyone feel seen, heard, and loved, regardless of class or faith.”
The funeral was attended by several film personalities, including Hrithik Roshan, Kajol, Aly Goni, and Jasmine Bhasin.
Zarine Khan is survived by her husband Sanjay Khan, their son Zayed Khan, and daughters Sussanne Khan, Farah Khan Ali, and Simone Arora.
