SAI Nehru Park Centre Shines at KIWSF-2025
SRINAGAR: On the second day of the Khelo India Water Sports Festival (KIWSF) 2025, local talent from Jammu and Kashmir took the spotlight as athletes from the SAI Jammu Centre at Nehru Park, Srinagar, secured two medals, highlighting the region’s growing prominence in national water sports.
The dynamic duo of Sajjad and Muhammad Hussain clinched a silver medal in the 500m C-2 (canoe doubles) event, bringing pride to the Union Territory. Adding to the state’s medal tally, Muhammad Hussain also showcased his individual skill by winning a bronze medal in the 1000m C-1 (canoe singles) event.
Both athletes are trainees at the SAI Jammu extension centre, successfully operating at the state-of-the-art Water Sports Centre at Nehru Park, Srinagar, in collaboration with the J&K Sports Council (JKSC). Situated on the scenic banks of Dal Lake, the centre has emerged as a hub for nurturing young water sports talent, providing modern facilities, expert coaching, and world-class equipment.
Secretary of the J&K Sports Council, Nuzhat Gul, personally congratulated the medal winners for their outstanding performances, commending their dedication and discipline. She noted that such achievements underscore the transformative role of the Nehru Park Water Sports Centre in shaping the future of water sports in the region.
