“I waited 33 years for this moment”: Ravi Kishan on winning Filmfare Award for Laapataa Ladies

Gorakhpur: Actor-politician Ravi Kishan expressed his joy and gratitude after winning his first Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor (Male) for his performance in ‘Laapataa Ladies’ at the award ceremony held in Gujarat on Saturday.

An emotional Ravi Kishan said the honour marked the culmination of 33 years of dedication to his craft. “I have yearned 33 years for this Filmfare Award. We used to think such awards were bought, but all those misconceptions have been proven false. I had faith in myself and in Lord Shiva. I’m deeply thankful to director Kiran Rao for giving me this opportunity,” he said.

The actor also extended his gratitude to Rao for entrusting him with a role in the critically acclaimed film.

‘Laapataa Ladies’, directed by Kiran Rao, features Nitanshi Goel, Sparsh Shrivastava, and Pratibha Ranta in the lead roles and is jointly produced by Aamir Khan, Kiran Rao, and Jyoti Deshpande.

The 70th Filmfare Awards ceremony was held at EKA Arena, Kankaria Lake, Ahmedabad, and hosted by Shah Rukh Khan, Karan Johar, and Maniesh Paul.

Among the evening’s top winners, Abhishek Bachchan and Kartik Aaryan shared the Best Actor (Male) award for I Want To Talk and Chandu Champion, respectively. Alia Bhatt won Best Actress for her performance in Jigra, while Nitanshi Goel received the Best Debut Actor (Female) award for Laapataa Ladies.

Lakshya won Best Debut Actor (Male) for BaDs of Bollywood*, and Kunal Kemmu along with Aditya Suhas Jambhale were honoured with the Best Debut Director award for Madgaon Express and Article 370, respectively.
