REASI: In a coordinated effort with the Indian Air Force, the District Administration Reasi successfully airlifted ration supplies to Sarhi village in Bhomag, which was cut off due to heavy rains and landslides.
The Reasi–Sarhi (via Tote) road was blocked by multiple landslides, while the alternative Udhampur–Sarhi (via Moungri) route became inaccessible after the Thathi Bridge was washed away. Though sufficient ration stock is available, precautionary measures were taken to prevent any shortage.
Deputy Commissioner Nidhi Malik said the intervention ensured timely delivery of essentials despite tough terrain and adverse weather. “So far, 25 quintals have been delivered, and the exercise will continue subject to weather conditions,” she added.
She further informed that reconstruction of the Thathi Bridge is being prioritized with Army support, alongside exploration of alternate routes and manual transportation.
The joint effort underscores the administration’s commitment to public welfare and the Army’s spirit of service, bringing crucial relief to the affected community. The District Administration has reaffirmed that all possible assistance, including emergency medical support, will be extended to people stranded in remote areas due to rains and landslides.
