UDHAMPUR: In a swift humanitarian effort, the Udhampur District Administration, in coordination with the Indian Air Force, today airlifted two critically ill patients from the flood and landslide-hit Tehsil Latti-Marothi for urgent medical care.
The patients, Shiv Lal of Sira and Diwan Chand of Latti, were in serious condition and required immediate treatment. With continuous rains and multiple landslides severing road connectivity between Latti-Marothi and Udhampur, air evacuation became the only feasible option.
Acting on information shared by the Chief Medical Officer, District Magistrate Udhampur, Saloni Rai, swiftly coordinated with the Indian Air Force under the Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief framework to facilitate the evacuation.
As part of the operation, one patient was admitted to Military Hospital Udhampur, while the other was shifted to Government Medical College Udhampur for specialized treatment.
The District Administration reaffirmed its commitment to extending all possible assistance, including emergency medical support, to people stranded in remote and inaccessible areas affected by the recent heavy rains and landslides.
