The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has joined hands with IBM to set up an Artificial Intelligence (AI) lab at its headquarters. The initiative aims to provide students and faculty across India’s technical education sector with advanced training and hands-on experience in emerging technologies.
The new lab will serve as a central hub for upskilling in AI, data science, and related domains. It will emphasize practical learning, certification, and curriculum development for technical institutions, supporting India’s broader goal of creating an industry-ready workforce in next-generation technologies.
According to the government, the partnership is “committed to making AI accessible, inclusive, and aligned with national development objectives.” By integrating efforts from regulatory bodies, academia, and global industry leaders, the initiative seeks to bridge the gap between theoretical learning and real-world job market requirements.
As part of the implementation, master trainers will be identified and trained, while students will benefit from workshops, hackathons, and certification programs. The overarching goal is to equip thousands of learners and educators with the skills necessary to drive India’s vision of a future-ready technical workforce.
