Security forces on Saturday recovered an improvised explosive device (IED) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district and destroyed it through a controlled explosion, officials said.

The detonation, carried out in Upper Bangai village of Thanamandi, caused partial damage to a nearby house but resulted in no casualties, they said.

Officials added that a patrol team spotted the IED near the residence and alerted the bomb disposal squad, which opted for a controlled blast. The house, belonging to Mohammad Akbar, suffered some damage, but the family had been evacuated beforehand.
