The Waves Film Bazaar, a new initiative aimed at nurturing fresh cinematic talent, was officially launched at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2025. The platform, introduced on the sidelines of the festival, seeks to support independent and early-stage filmmakers by providing mentorship, exposure, and funding opportunities.
In a major highlight, Waves Film Bazaar announced its first-ever **USD 20,000 grant** dedicated to emerging filmmakers. The grant will be awarded annually to selected creators with innovative project ideas across fiction, documentary, and experimental cinema.
Organisers said the initiative is designed to bridge the gap between young filmmakers and global industry experts. The Bazaar will feature pitching sessions, masterclasses, curated networking events, and market access for filmmakers looking to develop and showcase their work at an international level.
Festival officials noted that the launch reflects IFFI’s commitment to strengthening India’s creative economy and fostering new voices in filmmaking. The first call for applications under the USD 20,000 grant will open shortly, with a jury comprising noted filmmakers, producers, and industry leaders.
The Waves Film Bazaar is expected to become a key platform for cinematic collaboration and talent discovery in the years ahead.
