IIT Madras Secures First Place in NIRF Rankings for Seventh Consecutive Year; IISc Bengaluru Recognized as Top University and Research Institute by MoE

NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras has secured the top position in the Ministry of Education’s NIRF rankings for the seventh consecutive year, with the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bengaluru following closely, officials said. The rankings were announced on Thursday by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

In the university category, IISc Bengaluru claimed the top spot, followed by Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) in second place. Manipal Academy of Higher Education and Jamia Millia Islamia took the third and fourth positions, respectively.

Among colleges, Delhi University’s Hindu College topped the list, with Miranda House and Hans Raj College in second and third places. Kirori Mal College ranked fourth, while St Stephen’s College secured the fifth position.

IISc Bengaluru also emerged as the leading research institution, with IIT Madras in second place.

In the open university category, Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) was ranked first, followed by Karnataka State Open University, Mysuru.
