Poonch, December 16, 2025: Continuing its crackdown on illegal activities and to ensure strict enforcement of the law, District Police Poonch on Tuesday foiled an attempt to illegally transport bovines during a routine checking drive in the jurisdiction of Police Station Surankote.
During the operation, police intercepted a Tata Ace load carrier. A subsequent inspection revealed that four bovines were being transported in violation of prescribed legal norms. The police immediately rescued the animals and initiated legal action in the matter.
In this connection, FIR No. 291/2025 under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) has been registered at Police Station Surankote, and further investigation is underway.
District Police Poonch reaffirmed its resolve to take strict action against those involved in illegal transportation and urged the public to remain vigilant and report such unlawful activities to the nearest police station.
